Hello! We’ve had another great year here at The Old Blacksmiths Studios but it is far from over.
Recording new music and working with bands and artists in the studio is our passion and something we want to continue doing for many, many years to come. With that in mind we’ve got some major refurbishment plans in place starting on 8th December 2018. These plans involve converting rehearsal rooms 1 and 2 into a brand new recording studio. The new studio has been designed by top studio designer Howard Turner and will provide us with a high-end, state of the art recording studio. This is something that we have been planning for sometime as we look to further improve the recording facilities, experience and output we provide to our clients. This is a large undertaking and we apologise for any inconvenience this will cause. We will try and keep disruption to a minimum.
You might have some questions about what we’re doing and how it will affect our facilities during and after the work is done. Hopefully the little Q&A below will help answer any questions you may have. If not and you’d like to know more, you can reach out to us and we will do our best to answer any questions you may have.
When does the work start?
We start clearing Rooms 1 and 2 on 8th December ready for the building work to commence on the 10th December. Work will continue during the Christmas break as we prepare to get ready for the start of 2019.
Are you open during this time?
Yes! We will be closing for Christmas starting on 24th December 2018 as usual. Our current recording studio will remain open until then. We have some great projects that we will be finishing up until then so availability for new sessions before Christmas is limited. Rooms 1 and 2 will be closed from 8th December 2018 until the new year.
So is there space to rehearse before Christmas?
Yes, although limited. We still have Room 3 available to hire as usual although slots are limited. Book now to avoid disappointment!
When are you opening in the new year?
We will be opening back up all facilities on Monday 7th January 2019.
What rehearsal rooms will be available in the new set up?
The new live room (Room 2) will be available for rehearsal bookings as standard. This room will also benefit from air conditioning and heating which I know has been requested many times! Room 3 will not change and will be available for rehearsal bookings as normal. To give ourselves a third rehearsal room to replace Room 1 we are converting the current recording control room upstairs into a rehearsal space. This room already has great acoustics for rehearsing from its use as a recording/mixing control room. As before a full set of backline equipment will be available for hire if you require for all three rooms.
Can we come and see the new studio when it’s finished?
Yes! We will happily show you the new facilities when all work is completed. Appointments will need to be made prior to visiting. We are looking into hosting an open day where we can show off our new studio.
Can we book to record in the new studio before it’s finished?
Yes! We have already got some sessions booked in for January 2019 and are discussing several more with clients.
How much will it cost to use the new studio?
Moving forward all projects will be quoted for individually. Get in touch and we can discuss your project!
